Lacrosse in Croatia
Founded in Zagreb in 2011, Croatian lacrosse reached the ELF in 2016 and has since built one of the Adriatic’s most distinctive scenes — including the Dalmatia Lacrosse Cup in Split, which draws 24+ teams from 9 nations annually.
The Croatia Lacrosse Scene
Croatian lacrosse was founded in 2011 in Zagreb and joined the European Lacrosse Federation in 2016. In fewer than fifteen years, the Croatian Lacrosse Association has built a national programme with a clear competitive identity — anchored in Zagreb and expanding southward along the Adriatic coast.
The Dalmatia Lacrosse Cup, held in Split since 2021, has become the centrepiece of Croatian lacrosse’s international presence. With 24+ teams and representatives from 9 countries, it is one of the most geographically diverse club tournaments in European lacrosse and a genuine destination event. Croatia maintains a strict squad policy: a minimum of 85% passport holders, with heritage players capped at 15%.
The programme is led by coach Mike Knezevich. At the 2025 European Championship, Croatia’s men’s team qualified for the 2027 World Championship Division II — a significant milestone for a federation that entered international competition less than a decade ago.
