Lacrosse in Greece

Greece Lacrosse was founded in 2014 with a distinctive leadership model and a grassroots-first approach anchored in Thessaloniki.

The Greece Lacrosse Scene

Greece Lacrosse was founded in July 2014 in Denver during the World Championship, with Anthony Katagas — an Oscar-winning film producer — leading the national programme. From the outset, the federation chose a grassroots-first model built around youth development in Thessaloniki.

The Boots on the Ground programme at Anatolia College (Thessaloniki) has reached 400+ students since 2017, under coach Andrew Athens. The YMCA Lacrosse Academy provides dedicated training infrastructure, and the Greece Lacrosse Sixes Tournament — now in its 3rd annual edition (October 2025, Thessaloniki) — anchors the competitive calendar.
