Lacrosse in Ireland
Ireland Lacrosse has become one of Europe's strongest growth stories. U20 European gold in 2024, senior qualification for the 2027 World Championship, and a full multi-format programme across field, box and sixes.
The Ireland Lacrosse Scene
Ireland Lacrosse sits among Europe's strongest growth nations. Affiliated to the European Lacrosse Federation since 2002, the federation has built an integrated domestic pipeline across field, box and sixes — rare for a mid-sized European scene.
The senior men's team qualified for the 2027 World Championship via the 2025 European Championship in Wrocław, with a decisive quarter-final win over Germany. One year earlier, the U20 men took European gold by defeating England 10-7, signalling a generation of Irish players ready to convert age-group success into senior results.
The domestic structure is anchored by the Irish Lacrosse League (ILL), the women's WILL and the National Indoor NILL. Women's box had its inaugural edition in 2024 and women's sixes debuted in 2025, with men's sixes scheduled for 2026.
