Lacrosse in Slovakia

Slovakia is one of Central Europe’s most distinctive lacrosse nations — home to the Bratislava Tricksters (9× Slovak Lacrosse League champions), a unique Canadian Lacrosse League partnership, and a box programme with a 5th-place finish at the 2022 European Box Championship.

The Slovakia Lacrosse Scene

Slovakia joined the European Lacrosse Federation in 2004 and has developed into one of Central Europe’s most distinctive lacrosse nations. The cornerstone of the domestic scene is the Bratislava Tricksters, founded in 2003 and now 9-time Slovak Lacrosse League champions — a dynasty that has defined the competitive ceiling of Slovak lacrosse for over two decades.

In 2023, Slovakia formalised a partnership with the Canadian Lacrosse League (CLL) — an arrangement unique in European lacrosse — incorporating heritage recruitment and coaching exchange. The box programme has also established Slovakia as a Central European hub for indoor lacrosse: at the 2022 European Box Championship in Hannover, Slovakia finished 5th, a historic best for the national programme. Coach Dave Bremner leads the national side.

At the 2025 European Championship, Slovakia secured qualification for the 2027 World Championship Division II following a dramatic comeback against Greece. With 6 active clubs, both field and box formats active, and an international partnership unlike anything else on the continent, Slovakia is a programme that rewards attention.
