Lacrosse in Wales
Wales is one of Europe’s most consistent women’s lacrosse programmes, winning a medal at every European Championship since 1996 (except 2003), qualifying for the 2026 World Championship, and reaching the Heritage Cup 2025 final.
The Wales Lacrosse Scene
Wales joined the European Lacrosse Federation as a founding member in 1995 and has since built one of the most consistent women’s records in European lacrosse. Lacrosse Wales runs both men’s and women’s national programmes, with the women’s team standing out as one of the most decorated on the continent.
Wales women’s lacrosse has won a medal at every European Championship since 1996 — with the exception of 2003. This near-unbroken streak across nearly three decades places Wales among the defining forces in European women’s lacrosse. The programme has qualified for the 2026 World Championship, continuing its tradition of global competition.
At the Heritage Cup 2025, Wales women’s team reached the final, ultimately finishing as runners-up after a 8–4 defeat against Argentina. Wales operates a developing club structure under Lacrosse Wales, with a men’s national programme also active on the British Isles and European circuit.
